Help Save Lives in Mayo

Mayo ICRR is holding two public meetings over the next week:

Westport Sunday 24th April 7pm Westport Plaza facebook-event-button
Castlebar Monday 25th April 7pm Harlequin Hotel facebook-event-button

This important voluntary professional pre-hospital emergency medical service will have to stop it’s service in July of this year, if it can’t get support from the people of Mayo to keep it going. Up and running since September of last year, Mayo ICRR has nine volunteer doctors, who respond to life and death emergencies through the 999 call system, supporting the National Ambulance Service. What Mayo ICRR doctors bring to the scene of an emergency, whether it is a road traffic accident or an injury on a farm, is emergency medical care you would only receive in a hospital, it’s much like a mobile intensive care unit.

This emergency medical service is up and running successfully in other parts of the country and is saving lives in the community young and old, there are a lot of people alive today who are grateful to this service. It’s very important that we get the people of Mayo to help keep and sustain this much needed volunteer medical service that responds to 999 calls and save lives.

We know it’s not realistic to have ambulances and specialised hospitals in every corner of the country but rural locations can pose their own set of challenges for the state emergency response services. Mayo ICRR has volunteer doctors who help and add to these emergency services.  It’s up to everyone in the community to help to try and solve this challenge by doing their part. We have voluntary doctors who live in Mayo, giving up their home and family time to respond to 999 calls in their community. It up to the people of Mayo to support their local doctor who works for free, with their equipment and medical costs as they are making a big sacrifice for the community, giving their time and skills to save lives.

Please come and support Irish Community Rapid Response meetings on April 24th at 7pm in the Castlecourt Hotel in Westport and on April 25th in Castlebar at 7pm in the Harlequin Hotel.
